My night time routine using my favorite healthy products

Processed with VSCO with a5 presetI’ve had a few people write to me and ask about what products I use so I thought that this would be the perfect time to talk about my night-time routine! As you know, I love to swap out my not-so-healthy products and replace them with healthy, environmentally friendly options.

Every time I write a post like this Julie Andrews sings, “these are a few of my favorite things” inside my head from The Sound of Music.

Anyhoo, back to the routine…

After my shower, on the nights that I actually get around to taking one (Ha!) I dry my hair with a towel and use 1-2 pumps of my Badger Argan Hair Oil. I use it as a leave in conditioner so it’s extremely low-maintenance and perfect for my busy, chaotic life.

If you’ve been following along my blog for a while now, a few months ago I chopped all of my hair off. It was dry, damaged and falling out so badly due being postpartum. I mean honestly, look at my hairline a few months ago.

I vowed to take care of my hair while it grew back out. I love my hair when it’s long but it needs to be healthy too! This Argan oil make my hair feel so soft and smooth without making it greasy. I’ve noticed a big difference since using it. My split ends are almost non-existent.

This hair oil is gluten-free, cruelty free, USDA organic, non-GMO and its amongst the top rated products on EWG’s Skin Deep Cosmetics Database. One of my favorite things about the Badger brand is that they purchase from fair trade companies which means that the lovely Moroccan women making the oils are being compensated appropriately for their work. Fair trade also proves to be traceable and transparent which basically means that we know that the ingredients are indeed, coming from Moroccan Argan trees. Badger will forever be one of my favorites for anything I put on my skin, or on my baby’s skin!

Alaffia is another one of my favorites! Their orange vanilla scented lotion is to die for. I do a quick spot treatment on all of my driest areas like my elbows, heels, knees and so on. This scent is one of my favorites and trust me, I’ve tried a lot of their products! I’m also currently using Alaffia’s coconut bubble bath and lavender shampoo on my kids. I sneak some of theirs from time to time because I love it so much. Their products are high quality and smelly yummy too.

Alaffia is also fair trade and focuses on empowerment and giving to those who need it in Africa. They focus on maternal care, education, eyeglasses, reforestation and so much more. You can read more about their amazing doings here.

For just about every plastic product we use, there is a healthier alternative. I have been avoiding plastics such as plastic water bottles but never thought to switch out my toothbrush! Did you know that billions of plastic toothbrushes make it into our landfills on a yearly basis? That doesn’t include the ones that don’t make it and instead, make their way into our waterways and oceans.

I made the switch from plastic, to a more eco-friendly bamboo toothbrush from BamBoo Roots. I actually find that my new toothbrush cleans even better than my former one. Each of their products are handmade so it’s really beautiful to see how each brush reflects a different grain and color. If you click here you can get 4 for only $10!

I finally switched up my toothpaste game too! I’ve always admired Dr. Bronner’s products for their focus on USDA organic goods and the fairness to their suppliers. I also think their packaging is intriguing. I love all of the colors they use on their labels and the message that’s printed on them! In fact, their bottles are very special indeed because they are made from 100% recycled materials. They even bought a new factory and dedicated themselves to becoming zero waste!

I am currently using the peppermint flavor but for my fellow anise lovers, they make an anise flavor and I will definitely be trying that one next. There is also cinnamon!

There is a plethora of products that we use on a day-to-day basis that could be replaced with healthier, more eco-friendly options. These were just a few that I love and use often.

What kind of routine products are your favorites?
